HELLO!
One million celebratary hoorahs and a thousand THANK YOUS! to Paul Dear and Sens Sagna for enlivening our godly bodies and minds at May’s West African dance and drum workshop! It was awesome! And it was lovely to spend a longer time together, eating lunch! mmmm! Thanks to everyone who came!
Next uuup!
June’s workshop will be held by the wonderful Erick Mauricia, who teaches us West African dance every Monday in Maryhill (if you wanna come! 6pm! ask for details!) and you may have met at the last G.O.D.S, drumming with Paul.
The workshop is an introduction to centering, strengthening and stretching: looking at concentration, breathing awareness and posture. (with a West African Dance edge!)
Break down of the class is as follows:
Focusing concentration on the whole body, the importance of breathing properly in motion, the benefits of good posture, and centering or centralling. The focal point being on firming and strengthening the abdominal muscles while keeping them stretched and supple! Creating less fatigue and less incidence of back pain or injury.
The workshop will be at:
Kinning Park Complex
40 Cornwall Street.
(it’s just opposite Kinning Park SPT station)
on:
10th June
at:
1pm-3pm
Please just wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely, we’ll be dancing barefoot!
Happy summer wishes to you!
Hope you are out enjoying the beautiful sunshine!!!
lots of love
Julia and Romany
